You write problems that a strong model should struggle with, then solve them yourself to a defensible standard. In practice that means building realistic task prompts — a three-statement build with a working-capital wrinkle, an LBO with a dividend recap mid-hold, a credit case where the covenant math turns on an EBITDA definition, a valuation where the comp set is genuinely contestable — and then producing the reference answer with assumptions stated, sourcing traceable, and the reasoning legible to another analyst. A large share of the time also goes to review: reading other experts' tasks and model outputs, marking where the arithmetic holds but the judgment doesn't, and calibrating against a rubric rather than your own house style.

What the screening looks for

The platform screen is AI-led and probes depth under follow-up. Expect to be pushed on specifics: which methodology you would actually weight in a given situation and why, where a standard approach breaks, how you would document an assumption so a reviewer can disagree with it precisely. Claims like "ten years in PE" get followed by questions about deal mechanics, so answer with the kind of detail you would use with a colleague. The other half of the screen is evaluation judgment — whether you can separate a wrong number from a wrong framing, and whether you can flag rubric ambiguity instead of quietly resolving it in your own favour.

Logistics
