What the work actually is
You are not running client engagements. You are manufacturing the raw material a lab uses to teach a model strategic reasoning: high-difficulty prompts drawn from real consulting situations — market entry under ambiguous demand data, operating-model redesign after a carve-out, a business case that has to survive a CFO's discount-rate question — paired with a gold-standard solution that shows the structure, not just the conclusion. A good task has a defensible right answer and several tempting wrong ones. A good solution makes the MECE breakdown, the assumption set, and the sensitivity logic visible so the model can learn the path rather than memorise the punchline.
The second half of the job is calibration. You review peers' tasks and answers against a rubric, decide whether a disagreement is a quality failure or a genuine rubric gap, and escalate the latter to the Functional SME Lead instead of quietly house-ruling it. Turing weights this heavily — senior consultants who can only produce, and not judge others' production, plateau fast on these programmes.
What the screen looks for
- Verifiable seniority. 8–15 years at Engagement Manager through Principal, top-tier or boutique. Expect follow-ups on engagement scope, team size, and what you personally owned versus what the partner owned.
- Depth under pressure. Screeners push on one methodology until you either show real command of it or start generalising. Operating-model design and business-case structuring are the usual pressure points.
- Evaluation judgment. Can you say precisely why an AI-generated strategy memo is wrong — bad framing, unstated assumption, false precision — rather than rewriting it into your own house style?
- Executive writing. Your sample answers are read as prose. Padding and consultant-filler read badly on the page.
Logistics
Fully remote contractor work, open to LatAm-based experts. Minimum four hours per day, up to 40 hours per week, with at least four hours overlapping US Pacific time — a real constraint across LatAm time zones, comfortable from Mexico and Colombia, tighter from Argentina or Brazil. Engagement length is capped at roughly nine weeks, though these programmes often extend or re-open. Pay is undisclosed on the posting; rates for senior functional SMEs on Turing programmes are typically negotiated per engagement rather than published. Process: shortlisted candidates get a Job Interest Form, then onboarding steps if selected.
