What finance experts do in AI
Grade model output against a rubric
Score AI-written models, memos and reconciliations for correctness, then write feedback specific enough for a research team to act on.
Write the reference answer
Produce the “golden” solution a model is graded against — the DCF, the journal entry, the investment committee memo.
Build training scenarios from real work
Turn the artefacts of your own practice — 10-K footnotes, 13-week cash models, reserving scenarios — into material a lab can train on.
Author assessment questions
Write original exam-style items on accounting, audit and tax, each with answer options and a worked solution, for evaluation datasets.
Work directly with an AI lab
Some listings are full-time roles embedded with a lab's research team writing instruction specs and benchmarks — W-2, and sometimes on-site or hybrid.

Mercor vs micro1: A Comparison for Candidates
The two biggest expert platforms differ in screening, role mix, and who they suit. Here's the practical breakdown — including where each one frustrates people.
Questions, answered plainly
Mostly three things: grade AI-generated financial work against a rubric, write the reference answers a model is scored against, and build realistic scenarios from the kind of deliverables you already produce. The domain judgement is what is being bought, not AI skill.
Across the finance listings we currently track, the median is shown at the top of this page and every specialty's median and published range is in the table above it — each with the number of listings behind it. Rates are read from the platform's own posting; where a platform publishes nothing, we show nothing.
Usually not. Where listings mention hands-on use of large language models, it is typically listed as preferred rather than required — the eligibility check on each role page distinguishes the two. What listings do ask for is verifiable depth in your own field.
The board carries both. Most listings here are project-based contract work paid by the hour; some are full-time W-2 roles embedded with an AI lab, and a few of those are on-site or hybrid in a specific city. Where a listing states its working arrangement, its role page repeats it. We publish no remote percentage, and no count of remote roles: many listings say nothing about location at all, and silence is not the same as “anywhere”.
