What the work actually involves

You will spend most of your time doing three things: writing reference slide decks the way you would have built them inside a pharma medical affairs function, prompting the model to attempt the same task, and then writing a detailed critique of what it produced. The task list mirrors real MSL and medical affairs output — scientific platform decks, KOL engagement slides, advisory board pre-reads and discussion guides, medical education content, congress data readout presentations, and evidence summary slides. Critiques are graded on specificity: "the Kaplan-Meier slide reports median OS without the hazard ratio, CI, or the fact that the curves cross at 14 months" is useful signal; "not rigorous enough" is not.

A large share of the judgment being captured is compliance judgment. The model needs to learn where promotional language creeps into medical content, when a claim outruns the data behind it, how off-label information is handled in a scientific exchange context, what belongs in a fair-balance statement, and why a non-promotional advisory board deck reads differently from a sales aid. If you have ever had a deck come back from MLR with twenty comments, that internalised sense of what triggers them is the asset here.

What the screen looks for

Ethos runs an AI voice screen. Expect it to confirm the advanced degree and the four-plus years in medical affairs at a pharma or biotech company, then push into specifics — therapeutic areas, which congresses you presented at or built for, whether you owned the deck or reviewed someone else's, how your materials moved through medical-legal-regulatory review. Vague seniority claims get probed rather than accepted. Slide craft is treated as a real skill: be ready to describe how you would lay out a forest plot, a subgroup analysis, or a three-arm trial design on a single slide.

Logistics
