What the work involves

You will spend most of your time doing three things: building reference-quality slide materials the model can learn from, grading model-produced decks against how a live mandate would actually be run, and writing the reasoning behind each judgment. A task might hand you a sell-side pitch narrative the model drafted for a mid-cap industrials target and ask whether the positioning pages hold up — whether the 'why now' is argued or asserted, whether the football field is framed honestly, whether a board would sit still for page four. Other tasks run the other direction: you write the gold-standard version, page by page, including the messaging architecture and the page titles that carry the argument.

Expect a mix of pitch structure, board presentation drafting, fairness opinion support materials, buyer and target positioning, and QC passes over analyst-grade output where the model has been asked to play the checker. The written rationale matters as much as the verdict. A rating with no explanation of why a page fails at the VP level is worth very little to the lab.

What the platform screens for

Ethos runs an AI voice screen. It probes for specifics that only someone who has actually owned materials can produce: how you sequence a pitch for a defense situation versus a proactive idea, what you cut first when a deck runs long, what you check before a fairness opinion deck leaves the floor. Vague seniority claims collapse under follow-up. The screen also tests evaluation judgment — whether you can separate a slide that is wrong from one that is merely not how you would have done it, which is the single most common failure mode among strong bankers new to eval work.

Logistics

  • Fully remote, asynchronous, no fixed hours or client calls
  • 5–20 hours per week, more available if you want volume
  • $100/hour as observed on this listing; rates are set by the platform and can change by task type
  • Live deal commitments are compatible with the schedule, but sustained weeks of zero throughput usually end an engagement
  • You will be expected to work only from public or fabricated fact patterns — never client material
