What the work involves
You'll spend most of your time in two modes. In the first, you're the author: given a brief — a campaign narrative for a CPG client, a design rationale deck defending a rebrand, a concept board for a new visual system — you build the deck the way you'd build it for a real review, then annotate why it's structured that way. In the second, you're the critic: the model produces a deck and you take it apart. Is the narrative arc doing work, or is it eleven slides of feature list? Does the hero slide earn its place? Is the typographic hierarchy communicating priority or just decorating? Your written rationale is the training signal, so a verdict without reasoning is worth very little here.
Tasks tend to arrive in batches around specific workflows: creative presentation decks, concept boards, campaign narrative presentations, design rationale slides, and executive-audience visual storytelling. Expect to work in PowerPoint or an equivalent and to be judged on actual slide craft — master slides, alignment, type scale, image treatment — not just on having opinions about decks.
What the platform screens for
Ethos runs an AI voice screen before any live conversation. It is looking for evidence that you have stood in front of a client or an executive committee and sold work, not that you have made attractive slides. Expect follow-ups that push on specific pitches: what the brief was, what you cut, what the room pushed back on, what you'd do differently. It also probes evaluation judgment — whether you can articulate why a deck fails in language another person could act on, rather than reaching for taste as a verdict. Vague portfolio summaries and agency name-dropping without specifics tend to end the screen early.
