The work

Contributors turn realistic infrastructure and construction problems into evaluation tasks for AI systems. Day-to-day work includes defining project constraints, drafting engineering scenarios, producing reference calculations or technical narratives, and writing rubrics that distinguish senior professional judgment from textbook recall.

Engineering scope

Tasks may cover structural design and analysis, transportation and highway engineering, water resources, environmental engineering, geotechnical assessment, and construction project management. Each task follows either the US track, including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and AASHTO LRFD, or the International track, including Eurocodes EN 1990-1998 and ISO. Scenarios may also involve AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD.Pro/ETABS, HEC-RAS, or enterprise project management platforms.

What the screen is likely to test

Expect follow-up questions about infrastructure work you personally owned, the standards and tools you used, and how design decisions moved through permitting, environmental review, and public agency oversight. The screen will also look for evaluation judgment: whether you can identify consequential engineering errors, define an authoritative reference answer, and assign scoring criteria that reflect public safety and regulatory risk.

Practical details

The listing does not specify whether the engagement is remote or asynchronous, nor does it state typical weekly hours or scheduling expectations. Candidates should be ready to give concrete availability and confirm working arrangements directly with Mercor.
