What the work involves

AfterQuery is collecting authentic accented-English speech for audio model training and evaluation. You receive a short script and a recording guide, read the script aloud in your own voice, and upload the file through the platform. There is no acting, no character work, and no request to exaggerate anything — the value of the recording is that it captures how a Hungarian speaker actually sounds reading English text. Most contributors finish in under fifteen minutes, including reading the guide and checking playback.

What the platform screens for

  • Accent authenticity. The screen is built to distinguish a native Hungarian speaker's English from an imitation. Expect questions about where you grew up, where you learned English, and how long you have spoken it. Faked accents are the main rejection reason.
  • Instruction compliance. The guide specifies things like distance from the microphone, background noise, file format, and whether to re-record after a stumble. Submissions that ignore these are rejected even when the voice is right.
  • Basic recording hygiene. A quiet room, a phone held steadily, no fan or traffic noise. No studio equipment is expected.

Logistics

Fully remote and fully asynchronous — you record whenever you like within the turnaround window, which is short by design. A smartphone microphone is sufficient. Pay is flat at $50 per accepted submission rather than hourly; the $30/hr band is the implied rate for a task of this length and is what contributors have reported, not a guarantee. Repeat batches are sometimes offered to contributors whose first submission passes review, but no ongoing volume is promised.
