What the work involves

This is a single-session audio contribution, not an ongoing engagement. You receive a short English script and a step-by-step recording guide, record yourself reading it aloud in your natural Greek-accented English, and upload the file through AfterQuery's submission platform. Most contributors finish in under 15 minutes from opening the guide to uploading. The recordings feed speech-model training and evaluation sets where accent diversity matters — which is why the authenticity requirement is enforced rather than aspirational.

What the platform screens for

  • Genuine accent provenance. Screeners want to know that Greek-influenced English is how you actually speak — not a performance. Imitated accents are rejected and typically end the relationship with the platform.
  • Instruction compliance. The guide specifies things like file format, ambient noise, distance from the microphone, and whether to re-record on stumbles. Submissions that ignore these get returned or discarded.
  • Recording environment. You do not need studio gear, but you do need a quiet room. Traffic, fans, TV in the background, and echoey tiled spaces are the most common reasons a clip is unusable.
  • Self-sufficiency in English. The instructions are written in English and there is no hand-holding; you should be comfortable reading and following them without clarification.

Logistics

Fully remote and fully asynchronous — record whenever it suits you within the turnaround window, which is short because the project is described as quick-turnaround. Compensation is a flat $50 for one accepted recording submission; the $30/hr band is the observed reference rate for comparable audio work on the platform and is not a guarantee of ongoing hours. Contributors who submit clean, usable audio are often contacted for later batches, but no volume is promised.
