What the work involves

This is a single-task audio contribution, not an ongoing engagement. You are given a short English script and a recording guide, you read the script aloud in your own voice, and you upload the file. The guide will typically specify things like a quiet room, distance from the microphone, no background music or fans, one continuous take, and a required file format. AfterQuery is collecting authentic accented English speech — the value of your recording lies entirely in it being your genuine accent, captured cleanly.

What the platform screens for

  • Authenticity of accent. They want native or long-term Dutch speakers whose English carries a natural Dutch influence. Imitated, performed, or 'Dutch-ish' accents are the main thing screening is designed to filter out, and reviewers who listen to accented speech all day catch this quickly.
  • Instruction compliance. A large share of rejected audio submissions fail on mechanics — wrong format, clipped first word, audible room noise, script paraphrased instead of read — not on voice quality.
  • Independence. No one will walk you through it. You read the guide, execute it, and submit correctly the first time.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous. There is no interview scheduling, no shifts, and no ongoing hours; the entire commitment is the recording session plus upload. A smartphone microphone is explicitly acceptable — you do not need studio equipment, but you do need somewhere quiet. Turnaround is described as quick, so expect a short submission window once you are accepted, and expect payment to be tied to a submission that passes review rather than to time spent.
