What the work actually involves

Each task is a small, self-contained package: a prompt you write in your own specialty, a label placing it as benign, dual-use or adversarial, the model's response scored against a defined policy standard, and a reference answer explaining what a correct reply looks like and why. The hard part is not the chemistry — it is calibration. A thermal-stability or DSC-onset question from a process safety engineer is routine professional work and a refusal is a failure; a question phrased almost identically but aimed at designing around a sensitivity threshold is not. You are being paid to place prompts precisely on that boundary and then judge whether the model held it in both directions.

Relevant backgrounds include formulation work on pyrotechnic compositions, solid or liquid propellants and specialty energetic materials; synthesis and characterisation in a licensed or government facility; performance and sensitivity testing (calorimetry, thermal stability, small-scale safety testing); and scale-up or process safety for energetic production. Hands-on facility experience is the distinguishing credential here — the panel is deliberately practitioners rather than people who have modelled these systems from outside.

What the platform screens for

Expect probes on where you did the work and under what licensing, what you formulated or tested, and how you personally decide a request is fishing. Screeners follow up on specifics, so vague domain summaries fall apart quickly. This is also writing-intensive work: every judgment needs a rationale a non-specialist reviewer can follow, so prior technical writing, published research or expert witness experience is a strong signal and a sample or link helps. Logistics and boundaries

  • Remote and asynchronous, paid per task — observed band $65–75 per task, not guaranteed and dependent on task type and review.
  • Volume varies with panel load; most experts treat this as part-time alongside existing work.
  • Nothing you produce may involve or draw on classified or export-controlled information, NDA-covered material, or anything under prepublication review. If you hold such obligations you can still be a fit — disclose them and the work is scoped around them.
