What the work involves

This is applied-application work rather than abstract annotation. You work inside Stata SE on your own Windows machine, performing the kinds of analyses you'd do in your day job — cleaning and reshaping survey or panel data, running regressions, handling survey weights and clustering, producing tables and graphs — and capturing the process as high-resolution screenshots with accompanying written explanation. Some tasks ask you to demonstrate a workflow end to end; others ask you to judge whether a model's proposed do-file, command syntax, or interpretation of Stata output is correct, and to say precisely where it goes wrong.

What separates useful contributions from discarded ones is specificity about Stata as a program, not statistics in the abstract. Knowing that `svyset` must precede `svy: regress`, that `xtreg, fe` and `areg` differ in how they report degrees of freedom, that `reshape long` fails silently in particular ways, that `margins` behaves differently after `logit` versus `logistic` — that kind of detail is the product.

What the platform screens for

  • Verified access. Stata SE specifically, on Windows, openable immediately. Stata/IC, Stata/MP, Stata on macOS or Linux, and university lab machines you can't reach today are all treated differently at screening.
  • Display capability. Screenshots must exceed 2.5 megapixels — either one monitor at QHD-class resolution or above, or two side-by-side displays of 1920×1080 or better captured as one spanning image. A single 1080p screen does not qualify under either option.
  • Real analytic history. Expect follow-ups on the data you've actually worked with — panel structures, complex survey designs, the specific Stata commands you reached for and why.

Logistics

Remote and asynchronous, project-based, with hours you set around your own schedule. Observed pay for this listing is $45–55/hr; rates are set per project and are not guaranteed. Contributors typically commit somewhere between five and twenty hours a week, with volume varying as projects open and close.
