What the work actually involves

You will be producing and grading real artifacts, not writing prose about special education. A typical task gives you a student scenario — present levels data, a disability category, service minutes, a parent concern — and asks you to draft the document a district would actually file: a measurable annual goal with baseline and criterion, a present-levels narrative that ties assessment data to educational impact, an accommodations-and-modifications table in a spreadsheet, a BIP built off a function hypothesis, or a progress-monitoring tracker with formulas that roll up trial data. Other tasks run the other direction: the model produces the draft and you mark what is wrong, why it is wrong, and what a compliant version looks like. Expect to catch goals that are not measurable, accommodations that quietly cross into modification, service grids that do not match the goals, and PLAAFP language that describes a deficit without connecting it to access to the general curriculum.

What the platform screens for

  • Ownership, not adjacency. Screeners push on whether you personally drafted and signed off on IEPs, or sat in the room while someone else did.
  • IDEA fluency under follow-up. Prior written notice, LRE justification, manifestation determination, the difference between a 504 and an IEP in practice, and how state variation shows up in forms.
  • Artifact craft. Whether you can genuinely build a formula-driven tracker in Sheets or Excel and a clean slide deck for an eligibility meeting — file quality is graded, not just content.
  • Evaluation judgment. Whether your critique of a flawed draft is specific and actionable, or a vague "needs more detail."

Logistics

Fully remote and fully asynchronous. There is no fixed shift; work is claimed from a queue and returned against a deadline, usually measured in days rather than hours. Five to twenty hours a week is the stated band, with more available to contributors whose output holds up in quality review. Pay is observed at $90/hour and is not guaranteed — rates on this kind of engagement move with task type and review outcomes. The screen is an AI voice interview, so plan to speak your examples aloud rather than point at a portfolio.
