The work

Mercor is staffing this project with a leading AI lab building generative music models. Day to day, you'll listen to paired or batched model outputs and score them on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality — writing justifications that use real audio-engineering vocabulary rather than general impressions. A second workstream is annotation: tagging songs by genre and sub-genre, marking song structure (verse, pre-chorus, hook, bridge), and describing vocal and instrumental characteristics inside a fixed taxonomy. Korean lyric evaluation is central — you'll judge whether generated lyrics scan naturally, sit correctly against the melody's syllabic stress, and avoid the awkward literal phrasing that models produce when translating from English prompts.

What the screen looks for

  • Verifiable production history. Three or more years as a producer, audio engineer, or mixer, with releases, credits, or session work you can name.
  • Theory and lyric fluency, not just taste. Expect follow-ups on song form, harmonic movement, and how you'd articulate why one vocal take reads as more convincing than another.
  • Bilingual precision. Native or near-native Korean with enough English to parse rubric language, prompt text, and annotation guidelines without drift.
  • Rubric discipline. Reviewers who can separate personal genre preference from the scored dimension, and who flag ties or ambiguity instead of forcing a winner.

A music degree covering performance, theory, and songwriting strengthens an application but is not a hard gate if your professional record is strong.
