The work

Each task is a discrete treasury exercise. You receive a mock file set — bank statements, AR/AP aging, an exposure schedule, a credit agreement, an intercompany matrix — and produce the deliverable a treasury team would actually hand to a CFO. In practice that means building a rolling 13-week direct cash forecast with line-level receipts and disbursements plus a written variance explanation; identifying and netting FX exposures across entities and recommending hedges that comply with a stated corporate policy; drafting hedge designation memos with periodic effectiveness testing; analyzing working capital (DSO/DPO/DIO), bank fee-to-service alignment, trapped cash and repatriation paths; forecasting leverage and covenant headroom against real covenant definitions; and drafting or refreshing policy language on liquidity, FX, counterparty limits and permitted investments.

The deliverable is the output, not a chat transcript. Work is graded against a rubric, so reasoning that is traceable to the source files matters as much as the final number. Expect to state assumptions explicitly and show where a figure came from.

What the screen looks for

  • Operating-company treasury depth. Four or more years in a corporate treasury function — not banking ALM, not FTP, not regulatory liquidity reporting. The scope note is enforced.
  • Hands-on mechanics. Whether you have personally built a direct cash forecast, executed or documented a hedge, or run a bank fee analysis, versus reviewed someone else's.
  • Judgment under ambiguity. Mock files are incomplete on purpose. The screen probes how you handle missing data, conflicting balances and covenant definitions that don't match your GAAP figures.
  • Written clarity. Variance explanations and policy language are graded on precision, not volume.

CTP, ACT/AMCT/MCT, or hands-on TMS experience (Kyriba, GTreasury, FIS, SAP TRM) strengthens a profile but isn't required.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous, project-based rather than shift-based. Pay is observed around $2,000 per task at the time of listing — not guaranteed, and Mercor sets rates by exercise scope and reviewer calibration. Most contributors treat this as a few concentrated sessions per deliverable alongside a full-time role; volume depends on how many exercise types you qualify for and how your first submissions score.
