The work

You would review inpatient medical records and AI-generated clinical notes, summaries, diagnoses, and procedure information. Day-to-day tasks include assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, identifying principal and secondary diagnoses, sequencing codes under the Official Guidelines, assigning Present on Admission indicators, and validating MS-DRGs, CCs, and MCCs. You may also flag hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators, resolve abstraction discrepancies, and write clear feedback on coding errors or complex cases.

What the screening is likely to examine

The platform will look for verifiable inpatient coding experience and an active coding certification such as CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or COC. Expect follow-up on principal diagnosis selection, ICD-10-PCS root operations, POA assignment, MS-DRG validation, and the use of current Official Guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance. Because the project evaluates AI output, the screen may also test whether you can distinguish unsupported model inferences from documentation-backed coding and explain corrections precisely.

Practical details

This is a United States-based remote contractor role. Availability of at least 10 hours per week is preferred, but the listing does not specify fixed working hours or confirm that all work is asynchronous. Access to current official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance is also preferred.

Pay band: $50–70/hr

This is the platform's observed pay band, not a guarantee of assignment volume, schedule, or earnings.
