The work

You will review inpatient medical records, assign or validate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes, and check clinical documentation for completeness and coding integrity. The project also involves coding diagnostic and procedural information generated by AI, comparing AI notes and summaries with real-world documentation, resolving discrepancies, and entering patient information into inpatient and outpatient record databases.

What the screen is likely to assess

Expect verification of your coding certification and current coding experience, followed by detailed questions about diagnosis and procedure coding. The screen may test how you select a principal diagnosis, distinguish unsupported specificity from codable detail, apply current guidelines, use E&M guidance, and explain corrections to AI-generated clinical content. Active CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, RHIT, or another coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC is preferred, as are ICD-10 experience and current work in coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related documentation role.
