What the work involves

Day to day you'll receive prompts of the kind a student or working professional would actually bring to an AI assistant — a question about a research paper, an exam-prep explanation, a multi-step analytical problem, a request to summarise dense source material. You research the correct answer yourself using online sources, then judge the model's response against it: is the reasoning sound, is the citation real, is the summary faithful to the source, is the arithmetic right. Where it's wrong you don't just flag it — you write the correction and an annotation explaining what the failure was. The written rationale is often the deliverable that matters most, because that's what gets used downstream.

Expect a mix of comparison tasks (two candidate answers, which is better and why) and single-response grading against a rubric. Throughput expectations are real, but on education and research content the bottleneck is usually verification: checking whether a cited study exists and says what the model claims it says takes longer than reading the response did.

What the screen is looking for

Two things, in this order. First, genuine prior Gemini usage — Turing asks shortlisted candidates for account details and will inspect conversation history for at least ten separate education, research, project, or skill-development threads. Freshly created accounts and padded histories are explicitly disqualifying, and this is checked before onboarding rather than after. Second, evidence that you can research and write: a completed or in-progress bachelor's degree, or a track record in research, analysis, writing, editing, translation, journalism, or data work. Expect follow-ups that test whether you actually verify claims or just recognise plausible-sounding ones.

Logistics

  • Fully remote, paid in USD, targeted at US educational raters
  • 16-week engagement, starting as soon as verification clears
  • 20 hours/week required; up to 40 hours/week available, which is where the stated $1,200/week ceiling comes from
  • At least 4 hours of daily overlap with PST is required — this is the constraint most applicants underestimate
  • Work is largely asynchronous within that overlap window; pay band is as observed on the platform, not guaranteed
