What the work involves

This is applied task work, not a design job in the usual sense. You will be asked to carry out realistic Illustrator tasks — building a logo mark from a sketch, cleaning up a traced image, setting up a packaging dieline, managing swatches and spot colours, preparing artwork for print or for export to web formats — and to capture what you do at a level of detail a model can learn from. That typically means screen captures at each meaningful step, clear written descriptions of the tool, panel, or menu path used, and an honest account of why you chose one approach over another (Pathfinder versus Shape Builder, expanded strokes versus live strokes, and so on).

A second strand of the work is evaluation: reviewing a model's attempt at an Illustrator task and judging whether its steps are correct, whether the described panel actually exists in the version you're running, and whether the result would survive contact with a real print vendor or dev handoff. Plausible-sounding but wrong instructions are the main thing you are being paid to catch.

What the platform screens for

  • Genuine daily use, not tutorial familiarity. Screeners probe for version-specific detail, keyboard habits, and the parts of Illustrator that only regular users know are annoying.
  • Windows specifically. Shortcuts, file paths, and font handling differ from macOS, and the tasks are Windows-anchored.
  • Immediate access. You should be able to open Illustrator today on your own machine.
  • Display capability. Either a single monitor meeting the listed resolution thresholds, or two side-by-side displays captured as one spanning image.
  • Written clarity. Step descriptions have to be unambiguous to a reader who cannot see your screen.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous. Work arrives in batches; you claim what you want and deliver against a deadline rather than sitting in a shift. Volume fluctuates — treat it as variable supplementary income rather than a replacement for client work. Observed pay for this band is $30–40/hr, stated as reported on the platform and not guaranteed; rates and hours vary by project and by reviewer scores on your early submissions.
