What the work involves

You'll spend most of your time producing reference-quality L&D artifacts and judging model attempts at the same. A typical task starts with a realistic prompt — a 90-day onboarding playbook for a regional sales hire, a facilitator guide for a four-hour manager training, a skills assessment rubric with observable behavioral anchors — and asks you either to write the gold-standard version yourself or to grade what the model produced and rewrite the parts that fall short. Deliverables span all three formats: documents (playbooks, facilitator guides, curriculum outlines), spreadsheets (course completion and engagement tracking, cohort dashboards, formula-driven rollups), and slides (manager enablement decks, program kickoff decks).

The critique side is where domain judgment shows. Models produce L&D content that reads plausibly but collapses under practitioner scrutiny: learning objectives that aren't measurable, rubrics with adjective-ladder levels instead of behavioral descriptors, facilitator guides that omit timing and transitions, trackers with completion rates that don't reconcile to enrollment. You're expected to name the specific defect, explain why it would fail with a real cohort or a people-ops review, and show the corrected version.

What the platform screens for

Ethos runs an AI voice screen before any task work. It probes for direct ownership — programs you designed and facilitated yourself, not ones you coordinated — and for fluency in the mechanics: how you sequence a curriculum, what belongs in a facilitator guide versus a participant workbook, how you'd structure an engagement tracker so the numbers survive a quarterly business review. Expect follow-ups that go a layer deeper than your first answer. Vague references to "learning experience design" without artifacts behind them tend to end the screen early.
