What the work actually involves

You are given model outputs, prompts, or draft materials in your discipline and asked to judge them the way a trained specialist would — not whether the writing reads well, but whether the chemistry is right, the citation exists, the map projection is appropriate, the histology slide shows what the caption claims. A large share of tasks are multimodal: reading spectra, schematics, GIS layers, clinical images, data charts, or artworks and explaining in writing what a non-expert reviewer would miss. Every decision comes with a structured written rationale, and the rationale is usually weighted as heavily as the verdict itself.

What the platform screens for

The screen is field-specific and follow-up heavy. Expect to be asked what you actually did in a lab or thesis rather than what you studied, and expect a probe on a diagram or figure convention that only someone who has handled that data would answer cleanly. Screeners also test calibration: whether you can distinguish an output that is wrong from one that is merely unconventional, and whether you will flag uncertainty instead of bluffing. Strong academic standing matters, but a specific, verifiable research thread — an RA position, an independent study, a thesis with imaging or quantitative data — carries further than a GPA figure.

Logistics

  • Fully remote and asynchronous; no fixed meeting hours.
  • Project-based. You accept or decline each project window.
  • The listing states two commitment figures — "up to 10 hours per week" in one place and "10–20 hrs/week" in the responsibilities. Ask which applies to the specific project before accepting.
  • Pay is stated as $800–$1,500 per project week depending on discipline and seniority; the $50–150/hr band is observed, not guaranteed, and premium rates are described as reserved for top candidates.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior undergraduate at a research university.
