What the work actually involves
You will be handed workflow briefs — issue a credit note against a partially paid invoice, set up a metered subscription with a trial, respond to a chargeback with evidence, reconcile a payout against the balance report — and complete them in a live Stripe account while recording your screen. Each completed run then becomes training material: you write the prompt an AI agent would be given, document the exact steps and Stripe objects touched, and author a rubric detailing what a correct answer must include and which plausible-looking approaches are wrong. Expect roughly half the time in Stripe and half in writing, because the documentation is the deliverable, not a byproduct.
The rubric writing is where most contributors are separated. It is not enough to say "issue the refund" — a usable rubric distinguishes a refund from a credit note, flags whether the Stripe fee is returned, specifies whether the dispute should be contested or accepted, and names the failure modes a model is likely to produce. You will also review other people's completed tasks for accuracy against project guidelines.
What micro1 screens for
- Whether you have actually operated Stripe, not just read about it. Screens probe object-level vocabulary: PaymentIntents versus Charges, invoice statuses, proration behaviour on subscription changes, Connect account types, the difference between a dispute and an inquiry.
- Live access to a Stripe account you can navigate independently, including test mode, without needing someone to grant you permissions.
- Willingness to record your screen and keep the recording clean — no sensitive customer data, no fumbling through menus without narration.
- Prior human-data work (annotation, RLHF, model evaluation) is preferred but not required; evidence of writing precise, reproducible process documentation can substitute.
Logistics
Fully remote, contractor, and asynchronous — work is claimed from a queue rather than scheduled. Most contributors report committing 10–20 hours per week, with recordings and write-ups done on their own clock against per-task or hourly terms. Pay in the $90–170/hr band has been observed on comparable micro1 finance projects; actual rates depend on the project tier and your demonstrated Stripe depth, and nothing here is a guarantee.
