The work
You will solve challenging problems in your area of STEM expertise, build rigorous explanations and use code for calculations, simulations or data analysis. You will also review AI-generated answers, checking factual and mathematical correctness while identifying unsupported assumptions, missing constraints and subtle reasoning errors.
What the screening covers
The AI interview is approximately 30 minutes and tests whether you can demonstrate domain depth through verifiable examples and detailed follow-up. Expect questions about technical problem-solving, evaluation judgment and coding-heavy workflows. Practical proficiency with Python or other coding languages is required, as is experience using coding agents. Relevant tools may include NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, Jupyter or domain-specific scientific libraries, but no particular library is mandatory.
Relevant backgrounds
Expertise may be demonstrated through academic research, industry, teaching, engineering, independent technical work or another relevant path. A specific degree or number of years is not strictly required. The named domains are chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, Earth science, geoscience, environmental science and robotics, while directly relevant adjacent scientific or quantitative disciplines may also be considered.
Logistics
The work is global, fully remote and generally asynchronous, with a flexible schedule of about 15 hours per week. Weekend work is optional. Compensation is output-based for tasks that meet project specifications, minimum submission requirements apply, and selected candidates are expected to begin their first task within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.
Pay band: $60–120/hr
