The work
You will design realistic coding tasks drawn from backend engineering, including bug fixes, feature implementation, refactoring, and performance optimization. Each environment must be reproducible and include a golden reference solution plus deterministic verification that accepts reasonable valid implementations while rejecting incomplete or incorrect ones. Work may also include reviewing peer submissions, documenting technical reasoning, and contributing debugging or development strategies.
What the screening measures
The AI-led interview focuses on verifiable engineering experience and how you reason through code quality, correctness, scalability, and test design. Expect follow-up questions about specific services, defects, bottlenecks, refactors, and open-source contributions. A technical assessment may be required if your GitHub or comparable profile does not sufficiently demonstrate the relevant expertise, and the interview and assessment must be completed without AI assistants or help from others.
Languages and technical background
The core requirements describe backend experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, Typescript, Python, C++ or similar. Open-source profiles are preferably in C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust. The scope names Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript, and significant hands-on expertise in at least one of Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript is preferred. Prior AI experience is not required.
Logistics
Pay band: $50–100/hr
The contractor role is remote and open worldwide. Compensation is output-based for tasks meeting project specifications, with each run estimated at roughly 15 hours, although actual time varies and minimum weekly submission requirements apply. The listing does not specify fixed daily hours, so execution appears largely asynchronous, but async scheduling is not guaranteed. The process includes an AI interview of approximately 20 minutes, possible technical assessment, and hiring manager review; selected contributors are expected to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.
