What the work actually involves
This is not advisory product consulting. You are taking the judgment you normally apply in a prioritization meeting and forcing it into something an AI system can execute reproducibly. Day to day that means authoring discovery parameters and guardrails for tools that generate roadmaps, feature specs and user story backlogs; building "golden" reference artifacts in Google Sheets or Excel — RICE and MoSCoW scoring models, roadmap timelines, Q&A triage boards, product dashboards — where the formulas are deterministic and the scoring rules survive an edge case; and designing realistic product-ops scenarios with plausible supporting context files (PRDs, customer feedback logs, release plans).
The other half is audit. You review AI-generated product artifacts, score them against a rubric, and either refine or reject them. The bar stated is "elite industry standards" for B2B/B2C product management, which in practice means catching the things that look right and aren't: a RICE score where reach and impact are double-counting the same signal, a roadmap with dependencies that can't resolve in the stated quarter, a triage rule that silently drops a whole class of feedback.
What the screen is looking for
- Real framework fluency, not vocabulary. Expect follow-ups on how you set Kano thresholds or what you do when RICE confidence is unknowable, not just whether you've heard of them.
- Spreadsheet determinism. Can you express a scoring rule as a formula that gives the same answer every time, handles blanks and outliers, and doesn't hide a manual override?
- Writing discipline. Concise, unambiguous prose. Guardrails that can be read two ways are worse than no guardrails.
- Honest availability. Weekend on-call is explicitly stated, as is 40 hours with 8 hours of PST overlap on a short engagement.
Logistics
Fully remote contractor engagement, described as up to two weeks at 40 hours per week with eight hours of daily overlap with PST, plus weekend on-call; the listing notes part-time engagement is acceptable, so clarify your version during screening. You need your own desktop or laptop and reliable high-speed internet. Pay was not disclosed on this listing — treat any figure you hear elsewhere as unverified and ask directly. Shortlisted candidates receive a Job Interest Form, and finalists go through a delivery review before work is assigned.
