What the work actually is

Frontier labs cannot generate attending-level clinical judgment internally, so they buy it. On a matched project you might author an original vignette drawn from your own practice — presentation, vitals, labs, imaging, the messy parts — along with the reference answer a model gets scored against. Or you grade model output: is the differential ordered sensibly, does it anchor on the first plausible diagnosis, is the proposed workup guideline-concordant, and does the recommendation survive contact with this patient's comorbidities, contraindications, insurance, and transportation. The most valuable flags are usually the third kind: answers that are defensible in a textbook and wrong for the person in front of you.

What the screen is looking for

  • An M.D. or D.O. with board certification and a current, active, unrestricted license (verified, not self-reported)
  • Current clinical practice, or recent enough that you can still reconstruct why you made a call — final-year residents and fellows are welcome
  • Written reasoning that another physician could audit; most of the deliverable is the explanation, not the verdict
  • Tolerance for underspecified tasks, and the instinct to flag an ambiguous rubric rather than guess and move on

Where you trained matters less here than whether your judgment is current and whether you can put it on paper.

Logistics, stated plainly

This is a standing listing, not an opening. It does not accept or reject anyone — you apply, verify, and sit in the physician pool until a project needs your specialty, which may be within a week or several months. Rate, hours, and client are named on the specific project listing, and the hiring decision happens there. The $115–150/hr band reflects rates observed on medical projects of this type and is not a guarantee of any particular assignment. Work is remote and asynchronous, typically structured in flexible blocks around clinical schedules; physicians commonly take 5–15 hours a week when a project is live. Completing the domain expert interview and joining every network you qualify for both improve match odds, and you only sign up once.
