The work

You will turn realistic practice scenarios into complex, gradable legal reasoning tasks with supporting materials. For each task, you will identify the controlling issues, provide the correct analysis, explain the reasoning, and define criteria that allow another attorney to assess an answer consistently. You may also review tasks written by other attorneys and flag problems that are legally inaccurate, ambiguous, or impossible to grade reliably.

What the screening assesses

micro1 screens for a J.D., an active U.S. bar license in good standing, 3–15 years of practice, and current work in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, or compliance. Seasoned litigation experience is strongly preferred. Judicial clerkships, law school teaching or legal instruction, law review or journal editing, and prior legal AI or legal data work are valued. English at C1 level or above is required. The AI interview is likely to probe whether you can explain legal authority precisely, distinguish reasonable disagreement from task ambiguity, and construct a defensible answer standard.

Logistics

The engagement is remote, flexible, and project-based, with payment for approved tasks. Task creation typically takes about 8 hours, and the task-based workflow is designed to fit around an existing legal practice. Work is primarily independent, although submitted tasks must be clear enough for another attorney to review and grade consistently.

Pay band: $80–150/hr
