What the work involves

You receive a project brief describing the legal profile a customer needs: a practice area, a seniority level, sometimes a jurisdiction or a narrow specialty. From there you work your own network and sourcing methods to find people who genuinely fit, screen them against the brief, and refer them into micro1's process. You stay in the loop while the referred professional moves through assessment, handling communications where needed and keeping clean records of who you contacted and when. Market feedback matters too: if a brief is unfillable at the stated profile, saying so early is part of the value.

Some projects support the development of next-generation AI systems, which in practice means sourcing lawyers to contribute legal reasoning and judgment to model training and evaluation work. No prior AI experience is required of you or of the people you refer. What does carry over is the ability to explain an unfamiliar engagement persuasively to a practising attorney who has never heard of this kind of work.

What the screen looks for

  • Real headhunting history in the legal sector: executive search, lateral partner moves, in-house placements, or specialised legal sourcing.
  • Evidence of an actual network across practice areas, not a generic recruiting background with a legal client or two.
  • Research ability on hard-to-find profiles, and a method you can describe rather than gesture at.
  • Discretion with candidate information and professionalism in outreach.
  • Willingness to operate as an independent professional, including for other clients where applicable.

Logistics

Fully remote and entirely self-directed. You decide how, when and where you source, subject to the agreed requirements of each project and applicable law. This is an independent contractor engagement rather than employment: there are no fixed hours, no guaranteed volume of assignments, and you are responsible for your own business expenses and taxes. Compensation is success-based per successful placement, and the applicable placement fee is communicated to you before you begin sourcing on a given project.
