What the work involves

You receive a reference image of a character and produce new illustrations of that character — variations in pose, setting, styling, lighting, or theme — while keeping the character recognisably the same person or creature. A single batch might ask for the same figure rendered as vintage poster art, then cinematic, then glitch-distorted. Alongside each deliverable you log short notes: what style you targeted, what decisions you made, and simple prompt metadata describing the image. That documentation is part of the deliverable, not an afterthought — it is what makes the artwork usable as training and evaluation data.

What the platform screens for

The gate here is the portfolio, not an interview transcript. Turing reviews submitted work before onboarding, and shortlisted applicants go through a portfolio review specifically. Reviewers are looking for range — evidence you can move between stylized, surreal, cinematic, vintage, retro, steampunk or glitch registers rather than repeating one signature look — and for character consistency across multiple drawings of the same subject. Screening conversations also probe tool fluency (Photoshop, Procreate, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Affinity or equivalent), how you handle revision requests, and whether your stated weekly hours are real.

Logistics and honest framing

Fully remote, paid in USD, 10–12 weeks. Full-time contribution up to 40 hours per week is preferred; part-time up to 20 hours is accepted. Work is asynchronous against assigned deadlines rather than fixed shifts. Pay is stated as approximately $5/hour as an estimate derived from approved tasks at the current task mix — unapproved or reworked pieces do not count toward that figure, and the rate is an observation, not a guarantee. Note that the listing refers to both a 10–12 week project and a 6 week engagement in different places; clarify the actual term before you commit. This band sits well below professional illustration rates, so it will read differently to an emerging artist building AI-project experience than to an established freelancer.
