What the work actually involves

You write cases, not quiz questions. A typical task starts from a scenario you have lived — a payroll ghost-employee scheme, a lost-profits calculation with a disputed but-for revenue curve, a bank-record tracing exercise across commingled accounts — and turns it into a self-contained problem with a defensible answer key. You then read what the model produced and write feedback that says exactly where the reasoning broke: it applied a yardstick from an unrelated industry, it netted mitigating revenue it should have kept separate, it asserted intent where the evidence supports only opportunity, it built a Benford's Law argument on a data set that Benford's Law doesn't fit.

  • Drafting fraud detection, asset tracing, damages, and expert-report items with worked solutions and citations to standards or authority where relevant
  • Grading model responses against a rubric, with written justification for each deduction
  • Calibration work with other contributors — reconciling disagreement about what counts as a defensible answer when practice genuinely varies
  • Revising items that turn out to be too easy, ambiguous, or answerable by pattern-matching

What the platform screens for

The screen is AI-led and heavily follow-up driven. It probes whether your forensic experience is first-hand: which case types, what your role was, what the deliverable looked like, whether you have been deposed or produced a report that opposing counsel attacked. Vague seniority claims collapse fast under a second question. Screeners also test evaluation judgment — whether you can separate a wrong number from a wrong method, and whether you can articulate what makes a question hard for a model rather than merely long. CPA, CFE, or CFF is a plus rather than a gate; demonstrated case work carries more weight than the letters.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous — no standing meetings, no fixed hours. Contributors typically commit 5–15 hours a week and are paid hourly against submitted and accepted work; observed rates run $75–150/hr, with the upper end going to people with expert-witness experience or unusual case-type breadth. Engagements are project-based and can ramp up or pause with the pipeline, so treat it as a supplement to practice rather than a replacement.
