The work
You will analyze realistic energy and utilities regulatory scenarios drawn from FERC, state public utility commission, and ISO/RTO practice. Assignments may involve rate design, tariff structure, market structure, and regulatory compliance, with an emphasis on explaining the legal reasoning behind each conclusion.
You may also review other contributors’ work for legal accuracy and analytical clarity. The work requires identifying jurisdictional differences, unsettled questions, and facts that could change the result, as well as flagging ambiguous or poorly framed scenarios rather than silently making assumptions.
Screening and logistics
micro1 screens for verifiable practice experience, command of energy regulatory doctrine and procedure, and judgment about when an answer depends on governing authority, forum, or missing facts. The process includes screening questions, an AI interview, profile review, and onboarding. Prior AI experience is not required.
This is a fully remote contractor role open to candidates anywhere who hold an active U.S. bar license. Work must be delivered on schedule, but the listing does not specify whether assignments are asynchronous, a typical weekly commitment, or fixed working hours.
Pay band: $140–400/hr
