What the work involves
You will spend most of your time inside DaVinci Resolve and an annotation interface, working through batches of video clips against a written guideline document. Typical tasks: tagging footage characteristics (exposure, white balance drift, noise, banding, clipped highlights, codec artifacts), judging whether a grade matches a stated look or reference, labeling edit-level attributes such as cut points and transitions, and writing short structured comments that explain what you saw and why it matters. The written comment is often the product, not the checkbox. Model trainers need the reasoning, not only the verdict.
Guidelines change as the project learns what it needs. Expect revised label definitions mid-project, calibration rounds where your annotations are compared against other colorists', and requests to re-do earlier batches under a new rubric. Part of the job is flagging cases the guideline does not cover rather than guessing silently.
What the platform screens for
micro1 runs an AI-led interview before any human conversation. It probes whether your Resolve experience is real and hands-on: expect questions about node structures, scopes, color-managed workflows, log formats and how you diagnose a problem shot. It also tests annotation judgment, which is a different skill from grading: can you apply someone else's definition consistently even when you would have graded the shot differently, and can you articulate a borderline call in two sentences. No AI or data-labeling background is required, and the listing is explicitly open to entry-level and mid-level professionals.
Logistics
- Remote, contractor engagement, work delivered asynchronously against milestones and submission deadlines
- Hours are flexible, but batch throughput and turnaround windows are tracked
- Occasional synchronous check-ins with project coordinators, plus feedback cycles on your annotation approach
- A machine capable of running DaVinci Resolve with video playback, and a reasonably color-accurate display, are practical prerequisites
Pay band: $15–80/hr, as observed on the platform. Rates vary by assessed depth and project tier and are not guaranteed.
