What the work actually is

You spend your day producing and reviewing analytical problems in both English and Chinese, along with the reasoning that resolves them. A typical item is small but unforgiving: read a table of monthly sales across locations and determine which grew most, then justify the time window you chose and whether early-period volatility should be trimmed. Another is a logic-constraint puzzle — delivery routes, seating orders, scheduling — where the model's answer is plausible and wrong, and your job is to say exactly where the inference broke. Other tasks involve decomposing long documents into logical blocks, checking claims against sources you find online, and annotating a model's response with feedback specific enough that a trainer could act on it.

The Chinese requirement is not decorative. Expect to write prompts and reference answers in Chinese, judge whether a model's Chinese output is natural rather than translated-sounding, and handle numerals, units, dates, and place names that behave differently across the two languages. Turing states no prior specialized domain experience is needed; what matters is that your reasoning is correct and your explanation survives someone else checking it.

What the screen looks for

  • Demonstrated bilingual working ability, not a self-rating — expect to produce or judge Chinese text during assessment.
  • Arithmetic and data-interpretation accuracy under time pressure: percentage change, growth rates, weighted comparisons, reading a table without transposing a figure.
  • Explicit reasoning: you can state the assumption you made and why the alternative assumption gives a different answer.
  • Feedback quality: annotations that locate the specific faulty step rather than labelling an answer "wrong" or "unclear".
  • Research discipline: how you verify a claim, which sources you trust, what you do when sources conflict.

Logistics

Contractor assignment — no medical or paid leave, no benefits. Full-time at 40 hours per week for the contract duration, remote, with 2–5 hours daily overlapping America/Los_Angeles (UTC−8). Compensation is described only as competitive and based on experience; no band is published, so treat any figure you hear elsewhere as unverified. Contract extension is possible and tied to measured task quality. You supply your own desktop or laptop and a reliable connection.
