The work

You will design realistic, multi-step bioinformatics questions, select and anonymize suitable data, and establish the correct answer through your own analysis. Data may come from public archives such as GEO, SRA/ENA, ArrayExpress, PRIDE, PDB, or MGnify, or from unpublished data that you have the right to share.

Technical scope

Each task requires a reproducible Jupyter validation notebook, structured outputs, and an interpretation tied to the underlying biological or translational question. The listing requires relevant experience with one or more of samtools, bcftools, bedtools, BWA, Bowtie2, or BLAST, plus Python, including pandas, Biopython, or pysam, or R/Bioconductor, including DESeq2, edgeR, limma, or GenomicRanges.

What the screen is likely to examine

Expect detailed follow-ups about an omics workflow you have personally run, including quality control, preprocessing, parameter choices, statistical assumptions, and interpretation. The screen should also test whether you can turn an open scientific problem into an exact evaluation task, protect sensitive data, identify ambiguous ground truth, and make the result independently reproducible.

Practical details

The listing does not state whether the engagement is remote or asynchronous, and it does not give typical weekly hours or a required schedule. Candidates should confirm location, scheduling, computing resources, and expected task volume with Mercor before accepting work.
