The work
You will turn source footage into complete post-production evaluation tasks. That includes writing realistic briefs, editing reference deliverables in your own software, introducing intentional defects or distractors when required, and defining concrete grading criteria with the editorial reasoning behind them.
What Mercor screens for
Mercor is looking for editors with at least five years of professional experience owning deliverables end to end in film and TV, commercials, broadcast news, or creator and social production. The AI interview is likely to test fluency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer, along with basic color work, audio cleanup, frame-accurate editing, codecs, frame rates, resolutions and audio channel layouts. Applicants submit a resume and reel or portfolio, then answer questions about footage ownership and on-camera consent.
Footage and evaluation responsibilities
You may contribute original footage that you shot and fully own, or source openly licensed material. A library of unpublished, fully owned footage is a strong plus, particularly when people shown on camera are willing to sign appearance releases. You will also blind-solve tasks authored by other editors and provide a step-by-step account that can be checked against the intended result.
Logistics
The expected commitment is about 12 hours per week, and California residents are not eligible. The listing does not explicitly specify whether scheduling is asynchronous or whether all work is remote, so confirm those arrangements with Mercor before accepting.
Pay band: $50/hr
This band is observed from the listing and is not guaranteed.
