What the work actually is

You pick or supply information-rich visualizations from your domain — Kaplan-Meier curves, yield curves, Bode plots, stratigraphic logs, control charts, forest plots — and build tasks around them that require several reasoning steps to answer. Each item needs a question with exactly one defensible answer, the answer itself, and a step-by-step derivation that names the axes, units, scales, legend entries, error bars or confidence intervals, and time windows you relied on. A question that can be answered by reading one data point off one axis is too easy; a question that depends on outside knowledge the chart doesn't contain is invalid. Most of the craft sits in that gap.

Expect review cycles. Coordinators and senior reviewers will push back on ambiguity, on answers that are technically arguable, on explanations that skip an arithmetic step, and on charts whose resolution or labelling makes the intended reading uncertain. Volume expectations and per-task effort vary by project phase, and calibration on early batches usually takes longer per item than steady-state work.

What the screen looks for

micro1's process is AI-led: a conversational interview that asks about your background, then probes whether you can actually reason over a chart rather than describe one. Prior AI-training experience is not required and is not what's being measured. What is measured is domain specificity — naming the chart types you genuinely work with and what people misread on them — plus your ability to state a calculation out loud in order, and your honesty about hours. Vague answers that would fit any quantitative field tend to stall on the follow-up.
