The work
You will compare set designs, room layouts and production concepts against scripts, briefs and budgets. Reviews cover scale, layout, sightlines, color, materials, period accuracy, actor movement and camera needs, with a short written explanation of what works, what fails and why.
What micro1 screens for
The platform is looking for professional experience as a production designer, set designer, art director, set decorator, assistant art director or theatre designer. Candidates should be able to discuss real productions involving briefs or scripts, budgets, builds, shoot or installation days and coordination with other departments. Clear written English is required. Familiarity with SketchUp, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Rhino or Photoshop is relevant, although no single named tool is required and strong hand drafting can also qualify.
Practical details
This is a contractor role open remotely worldwide. The work appears task-based and suited to asynchronous review, but typical weekly hours and scheduling expectations are not disclosed. Pay band: $50–105/hr
Selection process
Applicants submit a resume and short profile, complete a curation interview, then undergo experience review and an initial reviewed task before continuing. The listing describes the interview as covering exhibitions, collections and attribution, which does not align with the stated set and production design work, so candidates should be prepared to clarify the format with micro1.
