The work
This remote contract centers on exploring multi-part CAD assemblies and turning them into rigorous evaluation material for AI systems. Day to day, you may identify design intent, constraints, failure points, tolerance interactions, mechanisms, and kinematic relationships, then formulate difficult questions whose answers can be traced directly to model geometry, features, mates, or other CAD evidence.
What micro1 screens for
The screening is likely to test whether you have created and overseen assemblies from concept, rather than only producing parts from existing drawings. Preferred qualifications include at least 5 years of professional experience, mastery of a major parametric CAD tool such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge, and experience teaching, mentoring, leading design reviews, or coaching engineering teams. Strong written English is preferred because the work requires concise explanations of why an answer is correct, ambiguous, trivial, or unsupported.
You should be prepared to discuss design intent, assembly reasoning, mechanism and kinematic analysis, and GD&T or tolerance judgment through specific project examples. Relevant backgrounds include industrial machinery and automation, robotics, automotive and heavy equipment, aerospace and defense, medical devices, consumer products, or tooling and fixture design. FreeCAD experience, advanced GD&T or tolerance analysis, and formal design review leadership are additional preferences.
