Work involved
This contractor role supports a technical maritime AI project through expert review of digital imagery and documentation. Day to day, surveyors assess container and cargo condition at transfer points, interpret vessel draft marks and tank gauges, determine cargo quantity and integrity, and prepare concise reports that explain the evidence and reasoning behind each surveyor’s call.
Review standards
Deliverables are evaluated for consistency with international marine survey standards and established practice. Surveyors may need to apply guidance from NAMS, SAMS, or IIMS where applicable, identify limitations in the available evidence, and provide actionable feedback that improves AI data labeling and maritime decision-making.
Screening focus
The platform is likely to verify the depth and recency of your cargo and draft survey experience through specific assignments, methods, calculations, and reporting decisions. Expect follow-up questions about remote interpretation of imagery, marine measurement protocols, ambiguous evidence, independent or consultancy work, and how you distinguish a supportable finding from a conclusion that requires qualification.
Logistics
The engagement is remote, contractor-based, and organized around asynchronous written and verbal collaboration. Typical weekly hours and scheduling requirements are not stated, so candidates should be ready to give a realistic availability range and identify any constraints on review turnaround or live calls.
Pay band: $20–60/hr
