The work
You will solve and validate Rust backend tasks involving service behavior, APIs, persistence, asynchronous and concurrent execution, performance and reliability. Day-to-day work may include translating functional and failure-handling requirements into implementations, tests and reproducible technical analyses, then judging whether a proposed system is correct, maintainable and suitable for production.
Technical environment
Tasks can require preparing Rust crate workspaces, configuration, test fixtures, databases, dependency services and containerized environments. Preferred qualifications include strong knowledge of Rust, backend service design, APIs, data systems, concurrency and production software architecture, plus practical proficiency with Rust in substantial professional, research or open-source software and clear Rust architecture ownership.
Screening
The application includes screening questions followed by an AI interview of approximately 30 minutes, which recruiters review before hiring manager review. Expect follow-up questions that test specific Rust experience, reasoning about concurrency and failure modes, methods for reproducing backend defects, and judgment about correctness, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
Logistics
This is a global, fully remote contractor engagement with flexible hours and an expected commitment of about 15 hours per week. Work is output-based, minimum weekly submission requirements apply, and selected experts are expected to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding.
