What the work involves

You build the cases frontier labs use to test whether a model can reason about nutrition rather than recite it. A typical unit of work starts with a referral — a patient with CKD stage 4 and poor appetite, a post-Whipple patient failing to advance diet, an adolescent with restrictive intake and bradycardia — and follows it through assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring. You write the reference answer, and critically, the reasoning trail: why this protein target and not the population default, which lab you would want before committing, what would change the plan.

The second half of the job is grading. You read model output and score it for evidence quality and patient safety. The highest-value flag is the one the job description names directly: advice that sounds healthy and is wrong for this patient — the potassium-rich smoothie for the hyperkalemic patient, the high-fiber push in a partial obstruction, the refeeding-blind calorie ramp, the grapefruit in a med reconciliation nobody read.

What the platform screens for

AfterQuery's screen is AI-led and follow-up heavy. It will verify your CDR credential and practice setting, then push on nutrition assessment depth — expect to be asked to defend a specific number (kcal/kg, g protein/kg, fluid restriction) and to explain what evidence supports it and where the evidence is thin. Vague answers get a second and third probe rather than a pass. It also tests evaluation judgment: whether you can distinguish a model answer that is incomplete from one that is unsafe, and whether you can write a critique a non-dietitian reviewer could act on.

Logistics

  • Fully remote, fully async — no scheduled shifts, no patient contact, no clinic calendar
  • Minimum 10 hours per week; hours set by you within that floor
  • Paid hourly via Stripe on a weekly cycle; $60–90/hr is the observed band, with placement typically reflecting specialty depth and board certification
  • Ongoing project work rather than a fixed-term engagement, with task types rotating as lab priorities shift
