What the work involves

You write engineering scenarios the way they actually arrive on a PE's desk: a design intent, a set of constraints, an applicable code edition, and a decision that has to be defensible. Then you write the reference answer — not just the sizing or the calculation, but the code citation and the safety reasoning that makes the answer the right one. A second stream of work is grading: you read model-generated designs, calculations, or review comments and score them against your rubric, with written justification for every deduction.

The highest-value task on this project is the adversarial one. Models produce output that reads like competent engineering — correct terminology, plausible load paths, confident references to standards — and fails on a clause, an edition change, an unstated assumption, or a load case nobody applied. Catching that, and articulating precisely why a reviewer would reject it, is what labs are paying for.

  • Author scenarios spanning design, review, comment resolution, and approval
  • Produce reference answers with explicit code and standard citations
  • Grade model output for technical accuracy, code compliance, and completeness
  • Write failure notes that name the specific clause or assumption that breaks

What the platform screens for

AfterQuery verifies the PE license — state, discipline, and active status — before substantive work begins. Beyond the credential, screening probes whether you have actually held responsible charge: sealed work, run plan review, resolved reviewer comments, or testified. Expect follow-ups that push on code specifics (which edition, which section, what changed) and on judgment calls where the code is silent or two standards conflict. Vague answers about "industry best practice" do not survive the second question.

Logistics

Fully remote and fully async — no live calls, no fixed shifts. Minimum commitment is 10 hours per week, set by you; contributors reporting in the 10–20 hour range is typical. Pay is observed at $105–190/hr depending on discipline, license breadth, and task type, disbursed weekly via Stripe. Work is ongoing rather than a fixed batch, and rates and volume vary by project.
