What the work involves

You sit in two chairs at once. Roughly half your time goes to authoring the hardest tier of legal tasks yourself — contract drafting prompts, multi-issue analysis problems, regulatory interpretation scenarios — together with the gold-standard solution that defines what a correct, practitioner-grade answer looks like. The other half is leadership: reviewing what 16–20 trainers submit, catching legal inaccuracies and shallow reasoning, holding consistency across authors who each have different practice backgrounds, and giving feedback specific enough that the same error does not come back next week.

The quality bar is not academic correctness alone. Tasks must be practically applicable — the kind of question a client or partner would actually pose — and the rubric must discriminate between a strong answer and a plausible-sounding wrong one. A significant part of the job is noticing when a rubric is ambiguous, when an edge case breaks the evaluation criteria, or when the same disagreement keeps resurfacing across reviewers, and escalating that pattern to the Functional SME Lead rather than resolving it silently pod by pod.

What the platform screens for

  • Verified depth: JD or equivalent plus active US bar admission, with 10+ years of practice at Senior Associate, Counsel, or comparable level. Expect follow-ups on specific matters, governing law, and how you would argue the other side.
  • Transactional and regulatory range: drafting, legal analysis, and regulatory interpretation are all named. Narrow litigation-only profiles tend to struggle on the drafting probes.
  • Prior responsibility for others' work: supervising associates, running document review teams, or signing off on juniors' drafts all count. The screen probes how you gave feedback, not whether you had a title.
  • Evaluation judgment: whether you can separate "this answer is wrong" from "this answer is defensible but the rubric penalises it" — and whether you fix the rubric or the answer.

Logistics

Fully remote contract work, six weeks to start with potential extension, aligned to PST business hours for coaching and calibration sessions. Pay band is undisclosed on this listing; Turing typically negotiates hourly rates by seniority and expects you to state a number, so know your figure before the screen. Treat this as a substantial weekly commitment — pod leadership plus hands-on authoring is not a few-hours-on-the-weekend engagement, and overstating availability is the fastest way to lose the extension.
