What the work actually involves
You connect your own Google apps to Gemini and then run personalized prompts against them — things like "summarize what I need to prepare for Thursday" or "find the receipt from that trip last spring." Your job is to judge whether the model retrieved the right context, drew defensible inferences from it, and produced something a real user would find useful. Much of the day is side-by-side comparison: two responses to the same prompt, and a written rationale for why one wins. The failure modes you are hunting are specific to personalization — confidently citing the wrong thread, inventing a relationship between two contacts, surfacing a stale calendar entry as current, or making a recommendation that technically matches the data but ignores obvious context.
What the screen is looking for
There is no subject-matter credential here; a bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent practical experience is the bar. What the screen genuinely filters on is US residency, willingness to grant app permissions on a real account, and whether that account has enough lived-in history to generate meaningful retrieval prompts. A freshly created Gmail with forty messages cannot support this project. Beyond eligibility, expect probing on evaluation judgment: can you separate "the answer was wrong" from "the retrieval was wrong," can you write a rationale a model trainer could act on, and will you apply a rubric consistently when your own intuition disagrees with it.
Logistics
- Fully remote, contractor engagement, up to 16 weeks
- At least 4 hours per day, up to 40 hours per week
- 4 hours of daily overlap with PST required
- Desktop or laptop and reliable internet; phone-only setups will not work
- Pay band is not disclosed in this listing — clarify the rate and invoicing cadence before onboarding
Shortlisted candidates receive a Job Interest Form, then consent forms, NDAs, and the app-integration permissions step. Treat the consent stage seriously: you should understand exactly what account access the project requires and be comfortable with it before signing, because the whole role depends on it.
