The assignment

Read one rough deposition transcript in full, answer about 100 questions concerning the record, and complete eight short litigation tasks based on the same testimony. Every answer must cite supporting page and line references, and one litigator owns the complete body of work to preserve consistent judgment.

What Mercor screens for

The screen is likely to test whether you currently practice civil litigation, have personally taken and defended depositions, and can discuss specific work in commercial, contract or personal injury matters. Expect follow-up on transcript ambiguities, conflicting testimony, citation accuracy, and the difference between what the record establishes and what it merely suggests. A J.D. and an active U.S. law licence are required, while Minnesota admission is not required.

Working constraints

Gold answers must be prepared without AI assistance. If an AI tool is used only to navigate the transcript, that use must be disclosed wherever applicable. The work therefore requires a manual, auditable process for reading the complete record, tracking support, resolving inconsistencies and checking every page-and-line citation.

Logistics

The role is fully remote and limited to candidates based in the United States. It starts immediately, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. The listing does not state that the role is asynchronous, and it does not disclose fixed weekly hours or a typical schedule.
