What the work actually is

This listing is unusual for Sidequest in that phase one is not evaluation work at all — it is a one-time, deliverable-based data contribution. You complete a consent form authorizing a named AI research organization to access your personal ChatGPT history, follow the linking/sharing instructions, supply the email tied to your personal ChatGPT account (often not the same as your Mercor email), and self-verify that your account meets the stated thresholds. There is a required ChatGPT Power User Interest Form embedded as a step inside the Mercor application; submissions without it are not reviewed.

Phase two is separate and not guaranteed. Experts who clear phase one may be invited into ongoing project work on the same program — the sort of Korean-language annotation, preference rating, and response critique that the $50/hr observed band refers to. Treat the band as applying to phase two engagement, not to the one-time consent step, and treat the invitation itself as conditional on verification.

What the platform screens for

  • Account substance, not claims. 40+ conversations over the past nine months, at least one saved memory, a personal account older than three months, and conversations primarily in Korean. The research organization verifies these after consent — verification can take up to two weeks.
  • Provenance hygiene. Only personal accounts qualify. Work, employer, and enterprise accounts are out of scope, as is any account holding proprietary or confidential material. Expect direct questions about whether your history contains client data, NDA-covered material, or employer content.
  • Residency and language depth. Based in South Korea, native Korean speaker, with at least 3–5 years lived and studied in the country.
  • Informed consent. Screeners want evidence you have read what you are authorizing and are comfortable with it — not reluctant agreement you may withdraw later.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous. Phase one takes well under an hour of actual effort; the waiting is in verification, not in your work. Phase two, if extended, is typically flexible-hours project work scheduled around Korean time-zone availability. There is no external link for the interest form — it appears inside the application flow, and skipping it disqualifies the submission.
