What the contribution actually involves

This is a data contribution, not ongoing work. You open the Health app on your own iPhone, make sure your HealthKit profile is filled out across every category that applies to you — activity, heart, sleep, body measurements, cycle tracking, mindfulness, whatever you actually record — and then confirm that your health records from a qualifying institution are connected through Apple's Health Records network. You export, submit, and consent to sharing four coarse demographics: age, gender, approximate region, and activity level. One export per participant, with an optional later re-export to refresh the data.

The binding constraint is the provider list. Mercor names roughly sixty US health systems — Kaiser Permanente, Mass General Brigham, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Sutter, Ochsner, and many academic medical centers among them. If your care isn't at one of those, or if it is but you've never completed the Health Records connection in the Health app, there is nothing to submit. Having visited the institution is not enough on its own; the record has to be live in HealthKit.

What the screen is checking

  • That a qualifying institution is actually connected, not merely somewhere in your care history
  • That the linked record contains all four clinical categories and a populated Clinical Notes section — this is stated as a hard requirement, and submissions missing notes are returned uncompensated
  • That the HealthKit side is more than a step count, with continuous history rather than a single day
  • That the export is genuine and from your own device, not synthetic, demo, or someone else's
  • That you consent to all four demographic attributes; partial consent means no submission

On privacy: the listing states exports are de-identified HIPAA Safe-Harbor–style before analysis, with identifiers stripped, dates and locations generalized, notes scrubbed, and a random ID replacing the identity link. Consent can be withdrawn later for removal.

Logistics

Fully remote and asynchronous, US only, iPhone required. The observed pay is $60 as a one-time payment for an accepted submission — not a guarantee, and not paid on returned submissions. Realistic time cost is under an hour if your records are already linked; considerably more if you need to connect a provider and populate empty HealthKit categories first, and some categories can't be backfilled at all.
