What the contribution actually involves

This is a data contribution task, not an annotation or review role. You open the Health app on your own iPhone, make sure your HealthKit profile is populated across every category that applies to you (activity, heart, sleep, body measurements, and more — a steps-only profile is rejected), confirm that your health records from a qualifying institution are actively connected through Apple's Health Records network, consent to sharing four demographic attributes, and submit the export. Most people who already have an established Health app history and a linked provider finish in well under an hour; the time cost is concentrated in verifying the linkage and confirming that all clinical categories actually pulled through.

The binding constraint is the Clinical Notes section. Many Apple Health Records connections return immunizations, labs, medications, and vitals but no notes, depending on what the institution publishes to the FHIR endpoint. Submissions missing clinical notes are returned unpaid — this is stated as a hard requirement, not a preference. Before applying, open Health → Browse → Health Records and confirm a Clinical Notes category is present and populated.

What the screen checks

  • That your provider appears on the published qualifying list (Kaiser Permanente, Mass General Brigham, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo-adjacent academic systems, and roughly sixty others). If it isn't listed, you don't qualify, regardless of how complete your data is.
  • That the record is live-connected to HealthKit, not a PDF or patient-portal download.
  • That your HealthKit history is continuous rather than a single day — this dataset is about longitudinal real-world signal.
  • That all four demographics (age, gender, approximate region, activity level) are consented. No consent, no submission.

Logistics and privacy

Fully remote, asynchronous, US participants only, iPhone required. One export per participant, with an optional later re-export to refresh your data — so this is a one-time $60 as observed, not recurring income. Exports are de-identified HIPAA Safe-Harbor–style before analysis: identifiers stripped, dates and locations generalized, notes scrubbed, and you're assigned a random ID whose link to your identity is stored separately. You can withdraw consent at any point and have your contribution removed.
