What the work involves

This is a short-term, remote contract project on financial workflow and data evaluation in a UK context. Day to day you will work through structured tasks — reviewing sample financial data, statements, receipts and tax documents, then judging whether a model's handling of them is correct, complete and realistic for a UK taxpayer. Evaluation is rubric-based: you score outputs against written criteria, annotate where the model went wrong, and write short, specific notes a research team can act on. A second strand of the project involves contributing your own material: connecting personal financial accounts through Plaid and supplying tax-related documents via project-specific secure channels, following a defined PII sanitisation process. If you are not comfortable with that, this is the wrong project.

What the platform screens for

micro1 states that no AI experience is required — your domain knowledge is the qualification. Screens for this role tend to test:

  • Whether you have actually prepared and filed UK taxes (Self Assessment, PAYE interactions, allowances, deadlines), rather than read about them
  • Concrete familiarity with UK personal finance mechanics: ISAs, pensions and relief, dividend and savings allowances, Capital Gains, student loan plans
  • Whether you can apply someone else's rubric faithfully instead of substituting your own opinion
  • Comfort with Google Workspace, cloud document sharing, and secure account connection via Plaid
  • Honest availability for a short-burst project with review cycles

Logistics

Fully remote and contractor-based, with asynchronous task work through Gmail and Google Drive plus occasional project discussions to clarify requirements. Hours are typically flexible and self-scheduled around task batches, though a short-term project means volume can arrive in concentrated waves and then stop. Expect onboarding steps covering data handling and sanitisation before task work begins.

Pay band: $90–110/hr (as observed for this listing; rates are set by the platform and not guaranteed).
