What the work actually involves

This is a conversation-generation project, not an annotation queue. You are paired with another participant and asked to run a realistic tutoring session — explaining a concept, working through a problem, diagnosing where a learner is stuck, or coaching someone through an assignment. Sessions are captured and used as training data, so the value lies in the session being authentic: real diagnostic questioning, real adaptation when the learner doesn't follow, real constructive feedback, rather than a polished monologue.

Expect to alternate roles across sessions, sometimes tutoring and sometimes playing the learner. Project guidelines will define scenario types, subject areas, and how much scaffolding is appropriate. The most useful contributors are the ones who let the conversation go sideways the way it does in practice — a wrong answer, a misconception, a student who says "I get it" when they plainly don't — and then handle it.

What the screen looks for

  • Verifiable teaching history. Which subjects, which ages or levels, how many years, in what setting — classroom, agency, private practice, university learning centre.
  • Pedagogical specificity. Can you name the misconception students actually hold about a topic you teach, and describe the move you use to surface it?
  • Adaptation under pressure. Screens frequently ask you to re-explain something after a hypothetical learner fails to understand your first attempt. Re-explaining differently, not louder, is the signal.
  • Comfort with a live paired format. Reliable audio, a quiet room, and willingness to speak spontaneously rather than read prepared text.

Logistics

Remote, contractor, US-based. Work is scheduled around paired sessions, so it is not fully async — you commit to blocks where another participant is on the other end, and no-shows are costly to the project. Hours are typically flexible and part-time, chosen from available slots.
